An Update on McBIC's Worship Pastor Search

In November 2021, we announced that Dave Hershberger, McBIC’s current worship pastor, would be transitioning out of his full-time role after 27 years of service at McBIC. Since then, McBIC has sought feedback about our church’s worship ministry and the role of worship pastor by conducting focus groups with more than 40 people participating. A worship ministry task force convened in early 2023 to focus on what McBIC was looking for in its next worship pastor.

Following months of prayer and discernment as well as interviews with members of our staff, church board, and the worship ministry task force, our church board and I are pleased to announce that we have offered the position of worship pastor to Evan Lebo, McBIC’s current middle school youth pastor. He has accepted the offer and will transition to his new role after Dave Hershberger concludes his time as worship pastor in late 2024.

As McBIC's lead pastor, I’m excited about Evan stepping into this new role. I believe that he and his wife, Lauren, are responding to God’s call to this position and that Evan will lead our church family well in the years ahead. I plan to share several videos with our church family explaining more about our search for a worship pastor, providing Evan and me a chance to share about our journey of sensing God’s call of Evan to this position, and discussing details surrounding transition timelines for worship ministry and middle school ministry.

Please join me in celebrating and praying for Pastor Hersh and Pastor Evan as our church approaches this exciting transition!

Your ministry partner,

Layne Lebo
